WesWork shows four counts in the toolbar. Each appears only when it's more than zero. Click a count to open its page in Workday.

WesWork reads the counts about every 30 seconds, even while the window is hidden or locked. The window's subtitle shows when they were last updated, for example “Updated 3 minutes ago”. A spinner appears in the toolbar until all four counts have been read.
The counts are read in the background, so the page you're using in the window doesn't change.
