Export a course roster as contacts

WesWork can save a course roster as a contacts file (.vcf), with one contact for each student, including their photo. You need access to Workday's View Course Section Detailed Roster task.

Export a roster

  1. Choose Academics > Export Roster Contacts…
  2. Choose the course sections, then click OK.
  3. When the roster appears, WesWork reads it and downloads the photos. A spinner in the toolbar shows its progress.
  4. In the Adjust Photos window, check how each photo is framed, then click Export. See Adjust student photos.

The file is saved in your Downloads folder, named after the course, for example “CHEM 145 Roster.vcf”. A roster with several courses is named after up to three of them, such as “CHEM 145 + CHEM 409 Roster.vcf”.

If you take more than five minutes to choose the sections, the export doesn't start by itself. Click the Download .vcf button in the toolbar instead.

Export a roster you already have open

On any course roster page, click the Download .vcf button (a person with a plus sign) in the toolbar. To open the roster task without exporting, choose Academics > Course Roster…

What each contact includes

FieldContents
NameThe student's first and last name
CompanyWesleyan University
EmailThe student's Wesleyan email
Job titleTheir course sections in the roster
NoteTheir class year and programs of study
PhotoTheir Workday photo, cropped as you framed it

A student in more than one of the chosen sections gets a single contact listing all of them.

Add the contacts to Contacts

Double-click the .vcf file in your Downloads folder, then click Add. Contacts lists the new cards under Last Import.

These contacts contain student information. Keep and share them in line with Wesleyan's policies on student records.
